Garage Conversions

Do you have a garage attached to your property which has become a breeding ground for clutter and just gets neglected?

Have you always wanted a utility room, extra bedroom, playroom or gym but unsure whether converting your garage needs planning permission?

Converting your garage usually falls within permitted development rights (with some exceptions) and you can still keep hold of that all important storage space by splitting the garage to fit your needs.

If you have a detached garage, you could transform this space into a garden room or your very own bar. Your children could be reaching that age where they want their own living space, converting this space into a games room could be the ideal solution to give them their own sense of freedom, with the benefit of them being in view.

Although most garage conversions fall under the permitted development rights, we advise, although not legally required, that you apply for a lawful certificate, should you later go on to sell your property. Some garage conversions do require planning permission eg. extending the garage, changing the garage into an annexe.

Whether or not your conversion falls under planning permission or permitted development, you will require building regulations.

If you are considering converting your garage, why not call us for your FREE initial enquiry, we can advise you on the documentation required for your personal project.
